"Hannah, fetch me a bandage." Claude ordered the maid outside, sending the room into a twilight darkness. Claude got closer to you, as he stared at you straight in the eyes.

"Say, what is your purpose?" Claude asked, "Someone crass like you should not be in this household. You must abide to my master's rules."

"B-but he hurt me! Why would I bow down to an abusive boy who's younger than me by a year or two?" You shouted, as you felt your hand be pinned up against the wall, and a hand on your neck. You gasped for breath again.

"What was that again?" He cynically asked, looking at you straight in the eyes with those same gold, sadistic eyes. If he could murder you here right now he would have fun doing so - however, it was Alois's orders for you to be his. That meant, no murder unless he said so.

"I..." You stuttered, as Claude smiled. He used his free hand to push his glasses up.

"That's what I thought. Do the household a favour, and do bite your tongue when in my presence. One wrong move and..." He looked at you, eyes burning into your skin, "You are dead."

You could feel his breath on your cheek, it smelt oddly fragrant for a man who's soul tasted like the scraps of a rotting carcass, and his personality worse than the egoistical nobles of London.

He let go of you yet again as you coughed up blood, as you laid there, on the floor. You coughed a few more times as you watched him leave the room, unharmed.

Hannah returned into the room a few minutes later after you regained your breath.

"Young mistress," Her voice rang out, as she shut the door behind her. She set the candelabra on the end table, and came rushing over to you. She sat you on the nearby chair, looking at you with sympathy in her eyes.

"My dear, you seem rather hurt. Did... did Claude Faustus do this to you?" She asked. It was obvious he did, and she was teasing you. She was less innocent than she was letting out, that was for sure.

She gently wrapped an bandage around your hands, taking care with your fresh wound as to not hurt it even further. She wrapped it around tightly after a few more wraps, as to so stop any bleeding and amount more pressure on it. Her eyes then fluttered to your bleeding lip.

"Oh dear. I do hope you can bear with the pain, since I have no remedies for a lip injury." She commented.

You just looked at her with an confused face. She traced her tanned, nimble fingers over your face, "Oh, you poor soul." She sympathetically remarked, "How did you end up here?"

"Alo-Master brought me here. I accidentally bumped into him, and he wasn't happy. B-but, he saw something in me, and he brought me here." You remarked, wincing as her hand withdrew from your face.

"You seem to have gone on a long journey. Here, I will draw a bath for you to clean you up. You are in an unfit condition." Hannah remarked, propping you up as she put her hands on your shoulders, "So, you are saying, that Master saw something in you and brought you here?"

Usually, Hannah wouldn't show kindness to anyone apart from Alois. But since Alois picked out this girl, and she was special to him, she had no choice but to accept you. If she didn't, she was unsure how Alois would react. And since Alois was the closest thing to Luka... Hannah had no choice, surely.

You stood silent after her question. There was nothing to see in yourself, and she was just repeating herself.

Hannah sighed, looking away, her small eyes sorrowful. She rose up to go to the bathroom, turning back slightly, "I am going to run a bath. Please, do your best to avoid trouble, young mistress." She whispered, slipping out of the room. It was dark in there, as you heard a click and footsteps. She'd locked the door behind her, so Alois couldn't reach you. A rather caring thing for her to do, you had suddenly thought.

When the door opened again, and the lilac haired beauty called you for cleansing, you felt a sense of ease. As soon as your toes touched the warm water, they curled at the intense feeling. You were not used to baths, much more bathing in cold, open water than enclosed, expensive, and warm bath tubs.

Hannah was gently scrubbing your back with a sponge, making sure not to make your skin raw if she scrubbed too hard.

"So, I expect you have not bathed much like this, have you?" She asked quietly.

"I have not bathed like this before, no. Before, it was cold open lakes, which made my friend ill one day." You recounted your experience to Hannah, hugging your knees. The foam in the bath felt incredibly nice on your skin, prevent Hannah from seeing anything apart from your back at the moment.

"Poor girl, it must be quite hard. Earl Trancy used to have water thrown on him and have it scrubbed off before." She sighed, as she stopped scrubbing, to stare at the wall, "That poor boy..."

"I hope you don't mind me asking something to do with the young earl Trancy, do you?" You chirped to Hannah suddenly, to gain her approval.

"I do not mind. Please do ask, I will oblige, but if it is a negative comment, I'm afraid I'll have to tell the young master." Hannah sighed at you, like it was almost a chore.

"Well... what has happened to the young master? He just seems one moment distant and then close then the next, and after what you said about his bathing schedule 'before', I'd wish to know about him." You asked. At the moment, you'd learned to hate his face, however, hearing about him would thoroughly intrigue you.

Hannah sighed, putting the sponge down. You lied back in the bath to give yourself a bit of a rest as Hannah started to wash your hair.

"The young master had not a very good past. I cannot believe I am telling you something like this, a newcomer, whom I've only known for a few days, but as he likes you, I suppose I cannot run forever..." She sighed, taking in a deep breath, "He was orphaned along with his younger brother at a young age. When a fire ravaged his home town, and took everyone, even his brother, along with it, he was taken to this manor, previously owned by the Former Earl Trancy. He had a terrible obsession with young boys, and was treated like a slave by him. Unexpectedly, after originally being detested by the man, he became his favourite. And, after his death, was appointed the new earl Trancy, with Claude by his side."

Hannah's speech was met with silence as you stared with disbelief at the ceiling as Hannah lathered your hair, ready to rinse it.

"That... I don't know what to say, really." You replied, looking at your hands, covered in soap suds.

"Yes, it was a despicable past for him. Plus, that butler..." Her voice trailed off, finally rinsing your hair as you shut your eyes tightly, "I do not trust him. But, he is the one Alois wished for."

You nodded, after the first rinse, "I don't know what's on with him, but he is a rather unnatural butler." You joked, "So stoic and serious, a flamboyant soul like Alois should want someone who notices his antics."

"Yes, but Alois craves that. Someone not noticing him. Someone who is cool headed, with their emotions almost sapped out of them. The... the young master dislikes me as I care for him too much. With your initial response to what happened at the market place not long ago, I assume that he was attracted to you because of that." She commented, finishing rinsing your hair. She fetched a towel, ready for you to get out.

"I don't know what to think of the young master right now. He mistreats me, yet... I feel like I want to protect him." You said slowly, thinking of him. Your heart wrenched itself, as Hannah almost glared at you.

"He is a pure soul, with no intention of harm. I highly suggest to protect his soul." She replied, as you got out, being immediately shrouded in a towel to dry yourself, Hannah doing the honors.

You sighed, after Hannah was done, drying your own hair a little more.

"I will now dress you in the night clothes our household possesses. I understand our young master has a night gown in possession which you can use." Hannah stated with a grin, dragging you yet again to a destination to dress you.

While she was dressing you and doing up the buttons on your night gown, you exhaled. Alois was probably asleep right now, and there was nothing you could do to ask him about anything. Hearing about his past experiences sort of gave him justification, considering his age, these horrible acts had the capacity to have happened at a young age to seriously alter his brain function.

Hannah just looked up and grinned once more, "There. All done, my young lady. Should you choose to retire to bed time now, I will prepare a warm glass of milk for you to ease you through the night, in case of any night traumas."

"I will retire soon. Where will you be situated when I do choose to retire to sleep?" You asked.

"I will await your return in your room. Then while you get into bed, I will prepare the milk." She replied, leaving. You walked out before the door could close behind you, looking around the hallways. You heard gentle murmuring down the hallway, edging closer to it, it's mysterious chatter drawing you in closer.

Suddenly, it got to it's optimal point. Right behind the said door, there was chatter going on. You didn't know if it was a bedroom, a sitting room, or anything. Your hand quivered over the doorknob and you gently opened the door.

It was a bedroom, and you shut the door behind you to not cause any further disturbance. Lying there, was a murmuring Alois. You'd thought you had heard chatter, when in fact, it was Alois murmuring himself to sleep. His bright blond hair was delicately placed all around the pillow, his eyes shut softly, as if they were in the embrace of sleep. You wandered over to his sleeping body, his features becoming more defined as you saw the delicate tears on his eyelashes. He'd been crying, and you were unsure if this was a conscious way of expelling his emotions, or if his dreams did the bidding of making precious dewdrops fall from his crystal blue eyes.

Your eyebrows softened in sympathy, as you laid a hand on his bed, gently sitting down beside him on the bed. He was in the middle of this large, king size bed, all to himself. Soft murmuring came from him again that moment, as you made out what he was saying.

"No... please don't, master..." He murmured, flinching as he gripped the bed sheets. A thin tear came from his eye yet again, his face was full of dismal.

You then again, looked at him painfully. Knowing that he was reliving those tough times in his dreams, haunting him, you wanted to somewhat help him. He was pained by the past, and had grown distant to many people. His coldness towards you may have been influenced by that, and you took a dislike to him, however you felt the urge to protect him. Hannah's words also somewhat influenced your decision, too.

As his arm was spread out in front of him as he laid on his side facing you, you put your hand on his. He mewled in his sleep, feeling your warm touch on his hand. Gently, his other hand met yours, encasing your hand into his cold hands. They were clammy from the nightmare, Alois's face red from the crying that he'd just been through.

You smiled at his response as his miserable looks disappeared from his face, as he looked somewhat neutral. He then turned around, but his grip was still tight on you. As you were sat on the bed, this caught you by surprise, and you fell onto the bed. As you tried to get up and leave, Alois was roused from his sleep. He turned around to look at you, his icy eyes open in surprise.

"(y/n), what on earth are you doing here?" He asked, in a slightly concerned tone, seeing his hands tightly gripping yours. He sighed, looking back at you again.

"I came to check on you. You seemed to be crying-"

"I wasn't crying. I was fine." Alois remarked, cutting in massively to save himself embarrassment.

"I suppose I'll be on my leave now..." You remarked, before Alois cut you off again.

"No. You will stay here with me." He ordered, glaring at you. You just looked back intensively with a face of surprise, wondering why in earth he just said that.

"But why, young master? I will be happy to get Hannah to prepare you a glass of warm milk also, I need to get back..." You remarked. He then grabbed your waist as you were still somewhat in the falling pose from earlier, pulling you close to him.

"You will stay. I was roused from my sleep because of you, I'm going to get to sleep now with your help." He ordered.

"Why don't you call for Claude?" You asked, as Alois froze, before relaxing, feeling his arms tense up.

"It doesn't matter now..." He muttered into your ear. He pulled you very close to him, as you had body contact. Your back was facing his torso and his stomach, and he wrapped his arms around you to make sure you couldn't get out. A thick cover shrouded the both of you too, making it deadly comfortable, but cautiously bad.

"Young master, may I ask something?" You asked hesitantly.

"Hmm." He hummed a yes to the response in a sleepy tone, hugging you tightly.

"What were you crying about? You were crying about a master, possibly hurting you." You asked. You knew what he was truly crying about.

"As I said, I wasn't crying." He bitterly remarked, nails suddenly clawing your skin as he signaled for you to just back off and lay there, and allow him to hug you.

"Yes you were." You remarked back to him, defying his order, "I know of your past, Alois. You were put into an pervy old man's home, and defiled by him. From what I heard, you were crying. I wanted to help you, but I didn't understand that you did not want any help."

Alois hissed, "Stop making up foolish lies. I have, and always will be, the head of the Trancy household."

"How can you be so sure, if you treat those who show you love by scratching their arms and turning them away?" You shot back, causing Alois to bite his own lip out of frustration, "I don't even want to comfort you."

"Why you..." Alois grapped your neck, forcing the blanket back off of you both, his legs either side of you as he raised a hand to slap you.

You struggled for breath yet again, putting your hands on his hand around your neck.

"Don't...." You struggled for breath, gasping, "Is this.... really how you treat..." You coughed a little, "...those who care?"

He let go of your neck, looking down in shame. He sunk to the side of the bed, putting his hands either side of him. His eyes were half open, as if in a daze, like he had no control over what he was doing.

You gasped for breath, sitting up, hitting your own back to gasp for hair again, clearing your throat, "What in the bloody hell was that?" You exclaimed, surprised.

"Hold me." He commanded swiftly, looking away from you.

"W-what? All of that, and you want me to hold you?" You shot back intimidatingly.

"I said hold me." He bitterly hissed, looking at you straight in the eye, "If you wish so dearly to comfort me, to make my impurities wash away, then hug me."  He commanded, his arctic eyes chilling you to the bone, knowing their icy innocence was in fact a bitter impurity.

"This is a weird request indeed. Am I going to end up like your butler?" You shook everything off, crawling over to him, and looking beside him. Your hand rose to his chin, gently making him face you. He sniffled a little, his soul breaking into pieces as he looked at you.

It was like yours almost shattered too. His frail body clearly couldn't take the burden of emotions piled up onto him, and you wished to change that. Your mean words didn't help, either. It was a sort of revenge for earlier, when he remarked of you being a possession of his, however you felt somewhat guilty for hitting him at his weakest.

You just watched as the tears started to form in his eyes, and his cheeks began to go red. Instantly, you grabbed his head, forcing him into an warm embrace. His arms, usually so cold and distant, timidly hovered over your back before gripping the fabric of your nightgown.

You heard sniffling and felt some small drops of tears fall on your shoulder. You gently stroked his head, trying to soothe him. He shook a little, breathing heavily as he sniffled hardly.

You knew, deep down, if you behaved with him like this all the time, you'd end up like his butler - somewhat idolized by the boy, followed, and romanticized. You hadn't a slightest clue of what his true personality was as you'd only known him a day, and yet you knew his life story, and he found home and solace in you. This was confusing and disorientating at the very least.

"Claude wouldn't do this," Alois sniffled, wiping his nose with his sleeve, "Hannah is just a worthless woman, and those three servants get on my nerves. It's hard being the only humane one in a household of emotionless cowards."

You kept your mouth tightly shut, as you broke away from his arms, walking towards the door, "I must return to bed, young master. It has been... a rather emotional encounter in this room tonight, but if the maid or the butler sees us, they may think wrongly." You took light footsteps towards the door, mouth poised in case you had any thoughts on your mind. Your hand hovered over the doorknob, before turning it. Alois got under his covers as you heard the covers rustle, and you shut the door behind you.

The hallway was dark, either end lit up by the windows, as you shivered in your night gown. You looked both ways, as it was your first night. Oh dear god, you were lost in a house with too many scary people inhabiting it. It was like a horrible nightmare, and no matter how much times you pinched yourself to tell you it wasn't true, the horrifying reality kept flying back to you, that you were indeed almost stuck in this house.

Figuring the best thing to do was not to run now, as it would be too suspicious. It would be almost expected of you. You bit your lip as you stood outside of Alois's door, hand and body pressed onto the door for support as you figured out what to do. You took a step to your left, the side with a long, narrow spiraling hallway and a dot of light presumed to be the window on the far side.

You took a step and edged off of the wood of the door, walking straight into the boy's butler. He clicked his fingers as you stared at him with an immense face of terror. The click of the fingers made the fires on the once dark candelabra come to life as fire provided light as they burned the candles.

"Young miss, may I ask, what were you doing in the young master's bedroom?" He asked with a face that terrified you. Those yellow eyes staring down at you, like a hungry wolf. Like you were a helpless insect trapped in his web, a spider who was edging closer and closer to devouring you out of existence.

"He was rather uncomfortable so I helped him to bed. I was also..." You looked around for a possible escape if this went wrong, "...lost."

Claude's expression didn't change, "But if you were lost, surely you could have appealed to me or the maid to direct you to your room. Surely you should have gone with the maid to your bedroom after your bath, not to the young master's room."

Oh no, this definitely had gone wrong. You had to think quickly, before he decided to hurt you, or worse, frame you in front of Alois and make Alois order him to hurt you even more.

"I..." You stuttered, looking up at him as you fell back on Alois's door again, squealing in surprise.

"Lost for words, are you? It seems like you are telling a lie." He pressured, as he bullied you verbally.

Suddenly, you felt a hand on your shoulder as you made a silent scream. It turned out to be Hannah, who took you under her arm, and made you stand behind her, as she talked to Claude.

"I apologize for the inconvenience, Claude. I had ordered her to run one last errand for me as a test of her skills before she retired to bed. She is to be a servant, after all." Hannah commented in a light tone, plum purple lips grinning at Claude.

Claude's eyebrow almost quivered at her snark, "It appears to me that the young girl spent some time in there."

"Well, she is new to the manor. The girl would be lost, and the girl would take a long time to do something as she simply isn't accustomed to navigating this manor.  I will have to take her to her night quarters, Claude. However if you wish to find out more about her errand, do strike up a conversation in the morning." Hannah ordered, as she turned her back to him, her hand on your shoulders, almost pushing you along, with a lantern in her hands.

Things were quiet until you reached your room, as Hannah tucked you in so you could sleep.

"Miss Hannah, thank you for helping me." You thanked her as she made sure the covers made sure you were warm. She smiled at you, eyes closed in happiness.

"Anything for someone who helped the young master." She smiled, knowing something that you didn't. Did she listen in to the conversation? You sensed her extreme devotion to Alois but figured she would be seething over some of the conflict that happened while you were there. As she left the room, and your bedroom slowly got darker until it was pitch black, you shivered.

This house was truly unnerving, daunting, and paper thin. Words could travel over the manor easily - there was no doubt what you were doing, what you were saying, what you were possibly even thinking of, were being listened to. False emotions were plastered on, everybody wearing the same face and having next to none feelings about anything. While you felt absolutely petrified of this as the wind seemed to make a ghoulish sound outside as you hid your head under the cover, there was one person in the house who most likely was feeling the same as you, and that was your master, Alois. The only one in the house who'd shown an inkling of humane emotions was that boy.

I can't tell you how sorry I am for how late this is! I had so much things going on, the main factor for this was writers block. I have been ITCHING to finish this but couldn't figure out how. I also got into the Steven Universe fandom and now am smitten with Lapidot, which is basically a crack ship.

I'd like to upload for this more frequently seeing as I last continued this in MAY ( seriously do dislike myself for doing that T-T I started writing the start of it in early June but literally just finished now), but also I love how I included a fluffy part in here. Was originally going to make this have a kiss in it, but thought it was WAY too early to introduce romance in any kind, so I included a light hint of it. I hope you guys liked it!
